Little Miami River fishing report
Posted On: August 17, 2017 BY Mark Walters
Great day on the Little Miami. Floated from Morgan’s Canoe at Ft. Ancient to Morrow. Started the day with a popper, but no action. Switched flies and the fish turned on: size 4 bead head rubber leg brown bugger ruled the day. Landed 12 fish and all but two were caught in the riffles.
I saw almost every fish chase the fly and take it. Only two smaller fish (7″) and those were taken above the riffles as the water was just about to enter the fast moving section.
The other ten fish were all nice and some really nice and all were fat. My observation from today is that the Little Miami smallies are heavier than the same length fish on the Elkhorn.
The structure along this stretch of the Little Miami is really impressive. Why not do yourself a favor and call Morgan’s Canoe and book a trip. If you want to learn how to fish this type of water with a fly, contact Ted at the shop.

As the rivers have come down to somewhat normal flows the fish have settled into their traditional runs and the fishing has been good. The Middle Provo especially seems to be in really great shape.
