visiting a Scottish Estate

As we were traveling through Scotland visiting vendors, we stopped off to visit an estate that offers fly fishing on the River Tweed and pheasant and grouse shooting.  It was very interesting to learn about an estate that is very active today and the home is still occupied by the Duke and his family (a house that was built in the 1770s).  The estate acquires income from forestry, rent from over 170 residential properties and additional rent from farms, sporting activities, film locations, livestock (beef and lamb) and farming (malting barley, oats, wheat, oilseed rape and grass).  This is hard work and the staff is wearing the same products that we bring to our Cincinnati shop for you.

The door behind the Duke’s Land Rover is the Sporting Agents office. I think the Duke was checking in on some clients.

The estate has sheep everywhere. Here they are grazing along the River Tweed. The estate owns a fair amount of the village in the background.
